NRS Series 3 Prelim 4

We had a great prelim round 4 of Nashville Rising Song Series 3. We had 25 songwriters come out, and all who showed up were able to share their song. We normally have 21, but we figured why not! We again had a strong group of songwriters at this round!

Will and Joe will come back and join 18 other writers for the semi-final round to be held Monday, November 12, 2018 at Tin Roof Midtown. The finals will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at Tin Roof Midtown.


Corey Lee Barker has over 500 cuts in various genres such as Country, Christian, Pop/Rock, Reggae, Polka, Comedy, TV and film. He has received multiple nominations for songwriter of the year by the Tennessee Songwriters Association, Inspirational Country Music Association, and the North America Country Music Association International and has 8 #1 songs in the Christian Country Genre.

He has written songs for William Shatner, Daryle Singletary, Cledus T Judd, Rebecca Lynn Howard, TG Sheppard, Johnny Lee, Bill Anderson, Jason Jones (Warner Brothers), Lucas Hoge, Cash Creek, Home Free, Barry Michael and a host of others.


You’ll also find some of his music on the Grammy winning album “Come Share The Wine” by Jimmy Sturr.

In 2015 Corey penned the Amazon best seller “Hit Happens” and recently released his second book “101 Ways to Get Your Songs Recorded.”

Bob is a long time music industry professional, starting his career as a concert promoter in 1975. Bob produced over 300 concerts in California.

During his career, Bob was a tour manager for artists including Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band, Billy Preston, Dwight Twilley, Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam, Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, A Flock of Seagulls, Mark Lindsay (of Paul Revere & The Raiders fame), New Kids on The Block, and Gene Pitney, just to name a few.

Bob was also the Manager of Artist Development for Curb Records. Bender went on to represent such label acts as Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes, Jo Dee Messina, and Hank Williams Jr.

He then took the reins of the Christian retail division for the label, and helped develop it into a million-dollar division for the company. Soon after, Bender found himself as Director of Sales for Curb Records.

Country music legend Michael Martin Murphey hired Bob to manage his label WestFest Records.

Bob went on to oversee the television promotion and info-mercial marketing campaigns for various country, pop, and Christian artists.

Recently, Bob produced a television show called “Songs in the Spotlight” which was picked up by Hulu. Bob is currently in pre-production for season 2, along with developing a new music series called “Nashville Bound”.

Bob has produced seven album projects including; a live-in concert CD for the Grammy award winning artist Billy Preston, Gospel recording artist Joanne Cash (Johnny Cash’s sister), Americana act Steven L. Smith Band (earning a first round Grammy nomination for Americana Album of the Year), tween pop artist Bailey, country music singer Whitney Wattenbarger, pop group “Grant My Wishes,” and heavy metal band Seven Dead.

Bob served on the CMTA Board of Directors for the Gospel Music Association and has been a guest lecturer at Belmont University in Nashville, speaking on the business aspects of the music industry.

Currently, Bob producing and hosting a podcast called “The Business Side of Music.”
