NRS Series 4 Final Recap

What a fantastic night we had at the finals of Nashville Rising Star Series 4! We had a packed house, and 4 talented songwriters who made the finals. Thousands of people watched online as well, and voted for their favorite song. We had 8 respected music industry judges who also each picked their favorite song. The winner was determined by those 9 picks. Whichever song had the most votes was selected as the winner.

Our Music Industry Judges:

Bruce Michael Miller is one of Nashville’s most requested song evaluators. Bruce has taught songwriting at the college level and is active in the Nashville songwriters’ community. He has evaluated upwards of 12,000 songs and has been a judge for the CMT songwriting contest for several years.

Bruce is not only an award-winning writer, but a producer, performer, and music educator. He has performed with such notable artists as Paul McCartney, Kenny Loggins, Jim Messina, Laura Branigan, The Standells, John Densmore of “The Doors”, Gary Wright, Jeffrey Steele, and others.

Bruce has had cuts by Steve Holy, Legendary Blues artist Miranda Louise, traditional country great Allen Carl, pop artist Lisa Nemzo, Nancy Terzian, Miss Jeannie and others. Bruce’s songs have been featured in motion pictures, performed internationally by other artists, and he has scored and produced movie soundtracks. His song “Voodoo” was chosen as an Oscar contender for Best Song in a Motion Picture for 2013.

Barbara Cloyd
Barbara is a hit songwriter and the host of the open mic at Bluebird Cafe since 1986! She is also a teacher and mentor that includes critiques, consultation, classes, workshops and a guitar/vocal demo service. Her “Pitch to Publisher” events are well known throughout the songwriting community as a premier discovery mechanism.

Cyndy Reeves
Cyndy is the founder of the Smoky Mountains Songwriter Festival held in Gatlinburg, TN in the late summer. The Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival is a platform for songwriters to perform their original songs. Our finalists and grand prize winner will receive featured performance opportunities at her festival in 2016!

Chuck Whiting- CEO- Whiting Publicity
Chuck is a Nashville-based publicist, music publisher, author and composer. His company, Music City Arts Network, represents country artist Scott Coner (Tanya Tucker duet/”Maybe She Lied”) and Chakra Bleu (number one pop/rock hit “All Of Me”). He also is the founder of the monthly “Tunesmithing” songwriters showcase at the Aloft Hotel on West End.

Chuck is the co-songwriter/co-author of the holiday song and storybook “The Littlest Star” featuring Margo Smith, Denny Jiosa and Connie Ellisor. His publishing company, Striking Moon Music, handles the song catalog of the late Marcia Jones, whose song “Closer Than We’ve Ever Been” was featured in the Hallmark movie “Lake Effects.”
